CIS Conference Room, Clark Hall Room 314, 1pm-5pm

I will be in the CIS Conference Room Mon Jan 30 from 1pm-5pm;

please make plans to visit for some part of the afternoon.

The purpose of your visit will be to discuss plans,

hopes and desires --- mine & yours --- for the course.

We will also begin to settle administrivial issues ---

most notably, a mutually agreeable class meeting time

for the semester.

modeling & inference on random graphs, and on time series thereof;

modeling & inference for text document classification;

modeling & inference for image classification;

the conditionality principle in statistical pattern recognition;

kernel & mixture estimates;

U-statistics in pattern classification;

the interpoint distance matrix as a sufficient statistic;
