Syllabus: is available here
Description
Introduction to the mathematics of finite systems. Logic, boolean algebra, induction and recursion, sets, functions, relations, and equivalence; elementary combinatorics; modular arithmetic and the Euclidean algorithm; graph theory. Selected applications. The concept of a proof and development of the ability to recognize and construct proofs are part of the course.
Grades:
There is no homework turned in (but plenty of recommended practice problems) and a small test at the end of each week. Each test would be given the same weight. Since the class comprises five weeks, each would be worth 20%.
