Can I count 600.107 or 600.109 toward the major computing requirement?

Am I required to take a Linear Algebra course and a Differential Equations course?
Students who began their undergraduate studies at JHU before Fall 2007 are required to complete a course in linear algebra as part of the major requirements. Students beginning in Fall 2007 or later must complete a course in linear algebra AND a course in differential equations. How can I find a research opportunity in the department?
The easiest way to get involved in department research is to talk to the faculty. They are always involved in research and welcome the interest of undergraduates.
How can I declare an AM&S major, second major, or minor?

My original department materials show that I must take at least 15 N credits as part of the BS requirements for AMS, but the website now shows a requirement of 12 N credits. Which is correct?
All current students pursuing the BS in AMS must earn at least 12 N credits. Students must earn a C- or better in each course applied to this requirement.
Can I take a course that is required for the major or minor for Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory credit?
No, all courses taken to fulfill a major or minor requirement must be taken for a letter grade.
Can I use 550.400 toward the major Scientific Computing requirement?
If you took 550.400 in Fall 2008 or later, it will satisfy the Scientific Computing requirement.
Can advanced placement credits in courses such as Calculus I and II, Statistics count as Q credits towards distribution requirements? Similarly, can Macroeconomics AP credit count as S, Chemistry AP credits as N, etc?
The AMS Department will count AP credits that appear on the JHU transcript toward distribution requirements. The distribution codes are determined by the distribution codes assigned to the equivalent JHU course.
Can I use 550.413 toward the major Scientific Computing requirement?
If you took 550.413 in Fall 2009 or later, it will satisfy the Scientific Computing requirement.
