Graduate Fellowships
GAANN Fellowships
In August 2009, the Department of Applied Mathematics and Statistics in the Whiting School of Engineering at The Johns Hopkins University was awarded a grant to fund four GAANN Fellows. Information about these fellowships may be found by following this link:
Wolman Fellowship
The Wolman Fellowship honors the memory of Whiting School alumnus and Professor Abel Wolman, who is world-renowned for his pioneering work in the field of water supply and treatment. The AM&S Department typically offers one Abel Wolman Fellowship to a promising incoming graduate student. This Fellowship provides a waiver of all tuition and a stipend comparable to the TA salary, with no duties required. The department considers each Wolman Fellow to have a full-support commitment, and provides him/her with a TA or RA after the Fellowship year, subject to satisfactory performance in the academic program and in duties.

Students are invited to submit written proposals for use of the funds; proposals should include an explanation of how the money is to be spent, how the expenditure supports the student’s research effort, and a draft budget. The proposal requires the student’s advisor’s signature.
The decision on whom to fund and at what level is left to the department chair’s discretion.

Naddor Teaching Fellows Program
The Naddor Teaching Fellows Program supports graduate
students who demonstrate a talent and commitment to teaching. The
program, which is made possible by the generous support of an anonymous
donor, is named in honor of the late Professor Eliezer Naddor, who
played a crucial
role in founding the graduate programs in operations research and
mathematical sciences at The Johns Hopkins University, and who demonstrated
an incomparable commitment to students during his career as a faculty
member.
